Is the sales period inviting you to go shopping? We arm you with some great tips to make your shopping a success.
1. When you see something you like, ask yourself the following questions:
- What is my feeling when I wear this garment? "Yes, yes, yes, yes!" or "hmmm, I don't know"?
- Do I already have something similar hanging in my closet? If so, when would I wear this piece instead of the other?
- Would I give up another piece of clothing to have this in my closet?
- Would I need to buy anything else to wear this piece (e.g., specific shoes)?
- Does it fit my style?
- Will I still wear it next year?
- Will I regret not buying it?
2. When you want to buy a more expensive piece of clothing, think carefully about whether you are buying it because it is "in" right now or caught your attention, or because it is your style and builds your wardrobe. In the latter case, you will be wearing it for years to come, and then it is worth investing in a more expensive piece such as a nice leather jacket or qualitative knit. It is always a great idea to invest in pieces that will be part of your wardrobe for multiple years.
3. When shopping, don't get talked into buying something that doesn't make you feel "wow" yourself; stick to your style. We know how it sometimes goes: a friend says something looks great on you, while you're not convinced yourself. But you buy it anyway, because you want to try something new, but then it stays in your closet unworn. A piece of clothing should make you happy and feel wow!
