Which body type do you have? A simple guide by Renée
At Renée, we believe that style begins long before you slip into your favourite dress or button up that perfect blazer. It starts with understanding your figure—not to limit you, but to liberate you. When you know how your body moves, where it carries its curves and how it balances, choosing your clothing becomes a calm, confident ritual instead of a guessing game. Think of this as your handy cheat sheet, just like in a boutique.
Let’s start with the basics: during our styling sessions we work with five main types: A, V, I, O and X. Each type has its own natural symmetry and beauty. Identifying your body type simply means noticing proportions—shoulders, waist and hips—and how they relate to each other. Nothing more, nothing less.
Type A, also known as the triangle, has narrower shoulders and fuller hips. Think of a silhouette that gradually widens towards the bottom—soft, feminine and fluid.

Type V, the inverted triangle, is the opposite: broader shoulders and slimmer hips. Athletic, structured, naturally powerful—a silhouette that enters the room before you do.

Type I, the rectangle, is beautifully balanced from top to bottom. Shoulders, waist and hips align, creating a clean, straight silhouette that looks effortlessly modern.

Type O, the oval, carries softness around the midsection, with a rounder, smoother overall shape. Gentle curves, a relaxed contour—think comfort and femininity in one.

Type X, the hourglass figure, is the classic shape with “balanced curves.” Equal shoulders and hips with a defined waist—a figure that has been celebrated in fashion for decades.
